Experiences
We have been talking a lot on Soul's Haven about general ideas but not a lot has been said about experiences themselves. The intention of this section is to give some idea of what you are letting yourself in for when you go for something new, to give an idea that other people do feel and think exactly the same things you do and have exactly the same doubts.Quite a while back, I was talking to two female friends on MSN. They asked my why their husbands can not be like me. The truth is, I told them, they are.
Most people who know me via the net percieve a stylised me. They see someone who has the advantage of being able to pause for a moment, to think about what he says before making a fool of himself, who can stop typing and simply listen. They see me as a Dom, when I am at my most confident. They never see the doubts, they never see the days when everything feels too much, they never see all the things that people percieve as weak but are really a part of us all.
So, the truth is, their husbands are the same, they simply see them at their vulnerable times too. The shame is we judge people negatively for not always being perfect and we judge ourselves negatively too. So, perhaps these experiences will shatter some of the illusions held about kitten and I. Perhaps, and this is the hope, they will show that we are all alike, we all have doubts, we all have bad times, but that those are perfectly normal and nothing to be ashamed of.
Doubts aside, hopefully these recollections will show that the many things we percieve as scary, the first time, in the scene may be scary but are ultimately worth doing nonetheless. The scene is full of wonderful experiences, maybe these stories will offer a little support in finding the courage to approach them.
2001
2001 was an incredibly hard year for kitten and I. A lot of who and what we are was turned on its head by changing circumstances and, to a degree, our own mistakes. Painful as it is to air all of them, hopefully by sharing we can let others know that they are not alone going through the difficult times.
