RePosting Policy

Introduction

From time to time, we get requests from other site owners to repost parts of Soul's Haven on their own websites.

This is very flattering and the whole point of Soul's Haven was to help the community, so sharing as much as possible is something we want to do. However, were every page of the site duplicated elsewhere then the point of Soul's Haven, as a place people could trust to come to for information, would be lost. We would also run in to issues like over saturation lessening the value of the articles and some sites that express sentiments that we simply cannot support using Soul's Haven's articles to gain credibility. So, we find ourselves needing to create a balance.

This policy is posted openly so that people can understand our perspective, what we are, and are not, likely to approve and that we really are trying to treat everyone fairly.

As always, we appreciate everyone continuing to respect the copyright we claim over the articles and reposting only with our permission.

The Policy

Only With Explicit Permission

Regardless of whatever else is laid out in this document, while we apply these rules, explicit permission is needed in each case.

What that means is that we ask you to get in touch with us first (you can do this via the Contact Us links at the bottom of almost every page). Let us know what you were hoping for and where we can take a look at the rest of your site. We will take a look at your site and make sure we feel able to support what you are saying. Assuming that is the case, we will get back to you and either approve your request or discuss any issues we have.

Unless you have received explicit approval in this form, please do not go ahead and repost any of the parts of the site.

Note: As mentioned below, permission is not needed when linking, in traditional HTML form, to our site.

Number Of Pages

Generally we ask that you pick the one article that you feel has the most relevance to your site. Should you think other articles would have a lot of relevance to your readers, you are more than welcome to link to the additional articles.

Inclusion Of Copyright

We ask that anything that is reproduced from Soul's Haven carries all three of the following:

  • The original copyright.
  • A link to Soul's Haven's front page (http://www.soulshaven.com)
  • A link to the original location of the page.

Retaining Copyright

While we are granting you the right to use the content, we have to retain ownership. This allows us to correct mistakes. In addition, should your site change from one we feel we can support (whether through your own actions or others forcing control), it allows us to remove the article if needs me. Please note that we do not foresee this happening, it is just to cover us.

The Checklist

The BDSM Checklist has some specific rules and exceptions. While it is hosted on our site, our view is that the information, in reflecting individuals, means they should be considered too.

Your Own Checklist

On the "My Profile" page, a link is provided that allows you to send people directly to your own checklist. This is probably the easiest way for you to include it elsewhere.

If you want to display a copy of your list, you are welcome to take that one page over to your site. After all, it is your information. For simplicity's sake, taking the printable version is going to make your life the easiest.

We do ask that, while you take the list over, you continue to respect the "Inclusion Of Copyright" paragraph above, as the rest of the page remains something we worked hard on.

Other People's Checklists

We will not grant permission for you to re-post someone else's checklist. It is their information and it is not our place to grant permissions to it.

Even if they have made their checklist public, the Soul's Haven code allows them to change this at any time. Your site would not be able to reflect this.

The Checklist Itself

The list of questions was something we went to a lot of trouble to put together. While the concepts themselves are in common usage, the structuring, descriptions, layout and so on are the result of a lot of work. Copyright law continues to respect such distinctions and we ask you to do so as well.

If you would like to link to the checklist, you may do so - as with any other link. However, if you simply wish to place a checklist on your own site, we ask you to either source it from somewhere else or create your own - the learning experience will teach you a lot.

Links

We encourage linking to our site. You are welcome to link to as few or as many pages as you feel would benefit your users. When you are simply providing a link, you do not need to ask our permission, though we always like to hear from people who are linking to us - we may be able to return the favor.

You do not need to ask for our permission when simply linking in traditional HTML form. Deep Linking

Some sites on the Internet complain about people linking directly to internal parts of their sites, rather than to the front page (as this is often where much of the advertising is kept). Such linking is referred to as "Deep Linking". Personally, we feel this breaks from the original notion of the World Wide Web and so we do not have a problem with links going directly in to parts of our site.

Descriptions

You are welcome to use the title and up to two paragraphs from the target page as a description for your links. A paragraph is defined as a single block of text as displayed on Soul's Haven.
