Terms and Conventions

No one's perfect, least of all me. We'll do our best to use consistent terms throughout the site and not offend everyone. Please be understanding though that different people use different terms differently and other mistakes will inevitably get made out of habit.

Gender

We generally make the effort to write everything in terms of Dom/me, implying that a Dominant person can be of either gender. From time to time, we're bound to forget. This is just out of habit as we are a MaleDom/Femsub couple. We don't mean to offend anyone.

One other thought on the topic of Dom/me - Dom/me is a way of writing Dom/Domme. Recently, the pronunciation Dom-may has cropped up for how to pronounce Domme. Domme should be pronounced exactly the same way as Dom. Dom/me is just an abrieviation, not a pronunciation cue.

CAPS

I generally use a captial D for Dom or Domme and a lower case s for sub or submissive. I'll also use a capital M for Master when it's being used as a name. Otherwise, I tend to be fairly lazy about capitalisation. I'll also use lower case for a submissive's name if that is something they feel more comfortable with. In the case of kitten's name, we use it as the name is entirely representative of her submission. As for I/i, He/Her/Him, etc, we tend to leave them out if for no better reason than it offends kitten's sense of correct English (coming from an American?!?) and my, admittedly long left behind, christian up bringing where He/Him was used for god - I may think I'm important but godly?!

The "Scene"

I've used various different terms, over the years, to try and encapsulate everything. BDSM (Bondage/Discipline, Domination/Submission, Sadism/Masochism) is a good term, "the Lifestyle" another. I just happen to be using "the scene" at the moment. Each one has subtle connotations that I'm not really trying to get at when using a general term. Basically, I'm using "the scene" as a general catch all for pretty much everything.

D/s

I use D/s (Dominance/submission) fairly frequently as it is the aspect of the whole scene that kitten and I feel we most associate with. We tend to use most aspects, to a greater or lesser degree, it is simply that D/s is the one we feel most connected to. Out of habit, I may use it incorrectly at times. Again, try and read things in the spirit in which they are intended, rather than worrying about every last connotation.
